CARRIE O’MALLEY FILES FOR IRVINE CITY COUNCIL WITH DECADES OF PUBLIC POLICY EXPERIENCE AND BROAD SPECTRUM OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT
O’Malley Officially Kicks Off Inclusive Campaign to Enhance the Quality of Life for ALL Irvine Residents
On Wednesday, Carrie O’Malley officially filed papers to be a candidate for Irvine City Council, with a goal of bringing leadership to ALL Irvine residents from day one. O’Malley brings to her campaign broad community support from residents and community leaders who recognize her passion, dedication, and experience in utilizing her public policy and public service background to serve Irvine families and residents over the past two decades.
“I’m running a positive, inclusive campaign, which is issue-based and community-based,” said O’Malley. “I will utilize my resilience, strong work ethic, and perseverance to advocate for ALL Irvine residents when I am on the City Council.”
As a California District Director and public policy expert, Carrie O’Malley has crafted important policies enhancing quality of life for our communities. As Chair of the Irvine Taxpayers Association, O’Malley has fought for fiscally sound policies. As former Chair of the Irvine Transportation Commission, O’Malley has also initiated successful plans to reduce traffic and to aid in safe and productive transportation solutions and options. Additionally, as a senior policy advisor, Carrie O’Malley has worked with law enforcement to help keep Irvine families safe, and has worked to prevent the cycle of crime and homelessness. She will continue to spearhead policies to help ensure that Irvine remains the Safest City in the United States.
O’Malley’s recent successful battle with breast cancer has re-focused her priorities and re-energized her to help Irvine. “2020 has been a challenging year for us all. In addition to these unprecedented times, I was diagnosed with breast cancer on January 3, 2020. Thanks be to God that I successfully battled breast cancer over this past year with 16 rounds of chemotherapy, surgery, and finishing with radiation. I am grateful for the phenomenal efforts of my doctors, nurses, and health care providers, especially during these challenging times of COVID-19,” O’Malley said. “My battle with breast cancer has proven more than ever that I possess faith, perseverance, resilience, and strength. These qualities are also needed to fight for our entire community on an everyday basis as I advocate for you on the Irvine City Council.”
As the first runner-up in the 2018 Irvine City Council race (out of a crowded pool of 12 candidates), O’Malley has been successfully vetted by the constituents and is poised to victoriously cross the finish line in November’s election.
O’Malley, a 22-year Irvine resident and original homeowner, serves as Vice President of her Homeowners Association in Northpark and also serves as a Board Member on the Joyful Child Foundation, championing safety of all children. O’Malley has also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) helping abused children navigate the court system.
“I have an open-door policy and embrace meeting with and helping ALL Irvine residents. In my decades of public service, I have become part of the fabric of this community—personally meeting with countless residents and turning their vision into action,” said Carrie O’Malley. “On the City Council, I look forward to putting front and center such issues as healthcare education and advocacy, senior services and preventing isolationism, and preserving our parks and open spaces—along with keeping our city safe. I will expand our Transparency Portal by spurring the creation of an Irvine Ethics Commission, to strengthen accountability and public trust. I will be a careful steward of taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars, focusing on our neighborhoods and Villages of Irvine, while protecting our open space, environment, and air quality for generations to come. Most importantly, I will represent ALL residents with inclusivity, kindness, and respect.”
