CALIFORNIA WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP ASSOCIATION PAC (CWLA) ANNOUNCES ENDORSEMENT OF O’MALLEY IN CAMPAIGN FOR IRVINE CITY COUNCIL
The California Women’s Leadership Association (CWLA) PAC announced their endorsement of public policy leader Carrie O’Malley for Irvine City Council.
“CWLA is proud to endorse Carrie O’Malley and we believe her issued-based and community-based leadership will ultimately serve her constituents best on the Irvine City Council,” said Dena Cruden, Executive Director of CWLA.
Founded in 1994, CWLA is a statewide organization that brings together influential women to affect meaningful change in communities and government.

As a Legislative District Director and public policy expert, Carrie O’Malley has crafted important policies enhancing quality of life for our communities. As Chair of the Irvine Taxpayers Association, O’Malley has fought for fiscally sound policies. As former Chair of the Irvine Transportation Commission, O’Malley has also initiated successful plans to reduce traffic and to aid in safe and productive transportation solutions and options. Additionally, as a senior policy advisor, Carrie O’Malley has worked with law enforcement to help keep Irvine families safe, and has worked to prevent the cycle of crime and homelessness. She will continue to spearhead policies to help ensure that Irvine remains the Safest City in the United States.
About Carrie O’Malley
Carrie O’Malley has more than two decades of public service and public policy experience at the federal, state, and local levels. O’Malley was born and raised in Southern California and has been an Irvine homeowner and resident for over twenty-two years. Currently, Carrie serves as District Director and Senior Policy Advisor in a California State Assembly District. Carrie has worked for several elected officials on a number of policy areas, including public safety, transportation, budget, and social services. Carrie served for nearly four years as Senior Policy Advisor at the Orange County Board of Supervisors where she was responsible for complex policy analysis on a myriad of issues (focusing on public protection and transportation). Carrie also worked on a number of special projects and complex policy issues while at the County – working on high level projects with County agencies and boards (such as the Orange County Transportation Authority, OC Fire Authority, Health Care Agency, OC Sheriff’s Department, and OC Probation Department).
Prior to working in local government, Carrie served with the California Attorney General’s Office and with the Committee on Governmental Affairs in the United States Senate. After successfully completing her first year at Harvard Law School, Carrie decided to pursue a career in public policy. At the state and local level, she has served as a field representative and legislative analyst for the California State Assembly. Carrie also served as Senior Government Relations Representative at the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) for many years where she oversaw State government relations and state legislation. O’Malley, is active in her community, currently serving as an elected member (Vice President) on the Board of Directors of her Homeowners Association in Northpark (Irvine), where she is an original homeowner. Carrie also served as an appointed Commissioner (Chair) on the Irvine Transportation Commission. Currently, Carrie is Chair of the Irvine Taxpayers Association as well. In addition, Carrie is a twenty year member of the Junior League of Orange County, where she has held numerous leadership positions. She is currently a Sustaining Member of that organization. Carrie is on the Board of Directors of the Joyful Child Foundation in memory of Samantha Runnion, where she continues to champion public safety for all children. Carrie has also volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) both in Boston and in Orange County, helping abused children navigate through the court system. Carrie was educated at Harvard Law School (1L) and at the University of California, Santa Barbara with degrees in Philosophy and Law and Society.
Carrie and her husband, John, have been married for twenty years, and enjoy raising their two teenage children, Shannon and Jack, in Irvine. Carrie enjoys long distance running on the many beautiful trails throughout Irvine, attending her children’s baseball and basketball games, and contributing her time and talents to helping the residents of Irvine.
